
Janice M. (Pearl) Gallaway, long-time resident of the City of Lawrence, went to be with the Lord the evening of June 19, 2017. She passed away at home, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild.
Janice was born to Mildred and Floyd Pearl in Mt. Clemens, Michigan in 1936. Janice met and married Patrick Joseph Gallaway in 1956. In 1967 Janice and her husband moved to Indianapolis where she held the Controller position at the Columbia Club and Highland Golf and Country club in Indianapolis for many years. She previously worked at Aluminum Finishing Corp. in the same position.
Janice passionately volunteered at the Lawrence Junior Football League for many years, after retirement and owned her own silk flower and wreath business. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking meals for her family as well as organizing large-scale banquets and parties. Janice loved children, her own and otherwise, and was always volunteering and contributing to events that helped dis-advantaged youth.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Gallaway. Janice is survived by her five children, whom all reside on the North-East Side of Indianapolis, Michael Gallaway (Michelle Gallaway), Gregory Gallaway (Teresa Gallaway), James Gallaway (Kelly Gallaway), Colleen Gallaway (Steve Stalnaker), and Sean Gallaway. She is also survived by her grandchildren whom also reside in Indiana, Megan Shaw (Gallaway) (Jonathon Shaw), Ryan Gallaway, Shannon Cronin (Gallaway) ( Eric Cronin ), Michael Gallaway, and Katherine Gallaway, and her Great Grandchildren, Connor and Reagan Shaw. Janice was also survived by sister Madalyn Proctor and brother John Pearl
Janice will be laid to rest in a private service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, in the Garden of Hope and Valor located at 9700 Allisonville Rd. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.
In lieu of flowers donations in Janice’s name may be made to Still Water Adult Day Care Center, 7160 Shadeland Station, Indianapolis, IN 46256.
